Mouthguards can be an excellent way to protect your teeth and jawline from injury. Whether you’re in sports, experience bruxism, or face another condition requiring extra protection, our customized mouthguards are designed to fit perfectly in your mouth without any further adjustments. Our unique approach to your care combines dental and chiropractic care under one practice to help you gain the most out of your experience, helping you relieve pain and get back to what you love doing most.

What are mouthguards?

Mouthguards are occlusal devices created to protect your mouth and are most often used for those in high-energy activities and sports. These dental appliances help protect the teeth, gums, cheeks, and jawline from injuries. Mouthguards help change the jaw’s position so that when impact occurs, the mouthguard can:

  • Reduce Mandibular Deformation:  Any outside force that impacts the jawline can cause it to deform, even after the jawline heals from any fractures or soft tissue injuries. Using mouthguards reduces the risk of developing conditions such as TMD or myofascial pain syndrome.
  • Increase the Force Required: Because mouthguards provide protection, any outside force impacting the facial area would need more extensive force to cause any damage. This is also important for preventing damage from nighttime bruxism.
  • Reduce Fractured Teeth at a Given Force: Mouth guards protect against fractured teeth by reducing the impact felt during a collision or accident, thereby dampening the impacted force overall. Bruxism can also be easily prevented at night because of the reduction in force required to damage the enamel.
  • Reduce the Likelihood of Injury: To reduce the impact of concussions, properly fitting sports equipment can reduce the likelihood of injury, as those without mouthguards have at least 1.9 times higher risk than those who have mouthguards.

More importantly, a customized mouthguard can be made especially for your teeth. Whether you’re facing jaw pain from bruxism or wish to prevent future jaw injuries, our team can provide a personalized mouthguard that fits the inside of your mouth and protect you from trauma or injury.
